This course was developed at Harvard Medical School to teach 4 core urology topics to medical students:
(1) benign prostatic hyperplasia
(2) erectile dysfunction
(3) prostate cancer
(4) screening with prostate-specific antigen (PSA)
In five randomized trials to date, this spaced education course has been found to improve students' learning and retention of core urology concepts. Importantly, the course is also well-accepted by busy students on their clinical clerkships. In 2009, the course was incorporated as a resource in the American Urological Association's National Medical Student Core Curriculum.

The course covers 4 core urology topics:
(1) benign prostatic hyperplasia
(2) erectile dysfunction
(3) prostate cancer
(4) screening with prostate-specific antigen (PSA)
The course was developed for medical students who are completing their clinical clerkships in surgery. It can also be a useful introduction to urology for other students in the health professions.
